Microbiome research and a paradigm shift in urban building design

Based on the article of the CIFAR group “Human and the Microbiome” in PNAS in April 2024, Thomas Bosch together with architects Mark Wigley (Columbia University) and Beatriz Colomina (Princeton University) have published a review article in The Microbiologist to make the entire community of microbiologists aware of the problem and the need to rethink many long-established and familiar relationships – in particular, the active role of the built environment in shaping microbial communities.
