The Microbiota Vault-Initiative

In order to cope with the problematic global decline of microbes and to possibly achieve their permanent conservation in the future, Prof. Maria Gloria Dominguez-Bello and Prof. Martin J. Blaser of Rutgers University have launched a new international project: The ‘Microbiota Vault’-Initiative aims at the preservation of microbial diversity by creating a technical facility that will enable the permanent storage and conservation of as many microorganisms as possible – that could potentially be important for human health.
